Auckland  Report to CATE AGM Nov. 07 - Maggie Hames

The Auckland region has had a busy and productive year.

We have a record membership of 142 members.

In Term 1 we elected a new Chairperson Phil Muir ,Manurewa High School, Secretary, Rachel Manirakiza , Victoria, University of Wellington, Auckland Liaison and Treasurer Ian Wilson, Auckland Grammar, National Executive representative Maggie Hames, Auckland Girls’ Grammar School. And a committee of eight members.

In Term 2 our meeting was held at the Novotel Ellerslie with a Hospitality Theme.

In Term 3 the emphasis was the Teachers’ Preview night at the Career Expo.

In Term 4 we held for the first time an Open Forum with the Tertiary Sector. This gave an opportunity for Secondary School Career Advisors and Tertiary Institutions to discuss issues relevant to their work, such as Careers Expo and School Career Evenings.

The end of the year Christmas Meeting will be held on 5 December, 2pm onwards at the Auckland Museum. A mix of professional development and fun.
