Changes to the way student assessment is reported to NZQA

When a school contracts an external provider to provide assessment for their students under programmes such as STAR and Gateway, then the school must enter into a formal arrangement with the provider for reporting assessment results to NZQA. The attached memo which outlines the change has been sent to all secondary schools and can be viewed on the NZQA website at the following link: http://www.nzqa.govt.nz/publications/circulars/secqual/index.html

Changes to the STAR Handbook (Section 3) have been made and can be viewed online at: http://www.minedu.govt.nz/NZEducation/EducationPolicies/Schools/Initiatives/STAR/STARHandbook.aspx

The Gateway manual for 2010 has been updated to reflect this change. The Industry Training Federation has been part of this process and will be advising their member ITOs. Polytechnics, Private Training Establishments and Wananga will be made aware of the changes through their networks.
