Hello Everyone I hope that you have all had a good break. Lynn from CATE has asked me to let you know that the programme for Novembers' International Careers Conference Programme is now on the CATE and Conference websites. Many of us have already booked flights, accommodation etc. Would be fun to select a night and meet somewhere for a meal and a knees up wouldn't it? Please let me know if you agree. Julie Urbahn from Careers Services thanks those who completed her online survey. The content for a resource bank for those working in Careers and Transition is now being developed for the website and she is asking NorthCATE members if they have any of the following to share: * Good news stories - of what's working well in their school as far as career education goes * Lesson plans - that have been used and worked well with any level of students If any of us would make time to send good news stories or lesson plans to her that would be great. Get Northland up there in lights! Julie's email is: Julie.urbahn@careers.govt.nz . Julie and I are also discussing a shared professional development for NorthCATE and CPANZ members on 30 July. If you have any ideas for a focus for that PD then please let me know. We could have our Term Three meeting on that day, also. Julie is also running the workshop on the new Career Services website at our next NorthCATE day on 14 May. Please let me know if you either didn't receive your invitation to that or have lost track of it. It is time to let Kathy know about you attendance or I regret I can't make it at k.draper@wbhs.school.nz . Last week I represented CATE National at a PPTA Subject Association Forum in Wellington . I will have some feedback from that soon, and also from Anne Tolley's (Minister of Education) meeting with CATE at the last Exec. meeting. There are going to be things happening in our area as we know. I don't think we will like all of it but there you go; life's like that! It seems to me very important that each of us in our individual roles is noticed by principals and Board of Trustees to be using our resources well in ways that benefit our students and other stakeholders, in a balanced and forward moving way. Right, I am going home now as I am on holiday! Please take care of those tasks and see you on 14 May. Bye for now Debra
