Kaiārahi
Tara Heta, previously from Westlake Boys High School is the Kaiārahi of CATE, NZ. This is a contracted position through the Ministry of Education Network of Expertise.
This role and the Networks of Expertise aim to:
- Identify PLD topics & opportunities and design and deliver workshops / webinars that address these.
- Provide up to date best practice subject information and research to teachers that supports national curriculum guidelines.
- Provide advice and guidance around pedagogy, curriculum and assessment through face-to-face meetings or by email and phone.

Mel Veituna, from Nga Taiatea Wharekura. Mel’s vision showcases her passion and commitment to give a Māori viewpoint from someone who is immersed in Māori medium ensuring the best outcomes for all our tauira across the motu. It is important that we set up systems and pathways to empower young Māori to succeed as Māori in Te Ao Hurihuri. Ma te huruhuru ka rere te manu—Adorn the bird with feathers so it may fly!
