About CATE
Careers and Transition Education Association NZ Inc.
CATE is a professional organisation for people working in the fields of career and transition education
The focus of CATE is on the career education and development of youth and their transition from school into the wider world of employment, training and/or further education.
High quality careers education and development is an essential part of preparing youth for their future. Supporting learners to make informed decisions about their options is critical as this can improve their overall quality of life, sense of purpose and the contributions they make to their whanau and community.
We advocate on behalf of members
The benefits of becoming a CATE member
We are proud to be a link with government organisations on behalf of our members.
We recently hosted an online Gateway Conference that focused on the professional development of Gateway staff in schools. Following this conference, we had several follow up questions for the TEC, and this was the response we received. We are also asking members who work in Gateway to provide us some feedback on pay rates in the industry by completing this form.
Representation and Advocacy
The CATE Executive actively engages with members to advocate for continuous improvements in career education within New Zealand schools, representing your interests at the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) levels to drive meaningful change.
Networks
Expand your professional connections both regionally and nationally through mentorship opportunities, fostering support and collaboration among members in their roles as career educators.
